Jeremiah 18
Our fall break Debbie and I, Bethany and Sarah went to SDC in Branson(steal your dollar city). I walked into the pottery shop where the artisan was molding clay into bowls preparing them to be fired into ceramics. He looked up and as he was applying water and shaping the clay he said it is very rewarding to take a lump of clay and make it into something useful. Immediately, I thought that is what God does with us. God told Jeremiah to go down to the potter's house and I will give you my message there. This was another one of God's illustrated sermons. The potter made a pot but something went wrong so he had to make another pot the way he wanted it to be. The old hymn writer took his inspiration from this passage when he wrote, "Have thine own way Lord, Have thine own way, thou art the potter, I am the clay, mold me and make me after thine will, while I am waiting yielded and still." Don't resist the potter or try and tell him what to make of you just simply let the master go to work and take our messed up vessel and make something useful out of it.
